The government is proposing allocating 20 million NOK to create electronic health cards for pregnant women.

Efforts to develop a national system for electronic health records for pregnant women will receive a grant of 20 million in the government’s budget proposal for 2017.

Today’s health cards are printed by hand and it is the pregnant woman’s responsibility to have the health card with her at all relevant meetings with health services.

– This is one of several measures for achieving the government’s goal of strengthening prenatal and maternity care in municipalities, says Høie.

The pilot project for electronic health cards for pregnant women was completed in 2016, and efforts to develop a national solution will start in 2017.
