E16 at Stalheim not open Tuesday

E16 in Voss is not opened Tuesday after a rock slide that on Monday night came down between Stalheim tunnel and Sivle tunnel at Voss municipality in Hordaland.

The National Road Administration said on Twitter that rock scraping and cleaning work will continue on Tuesday and that a new assessment will be made on Wednesday.

Monday night a rock the size of a car fell down on the road. The stone destroyed 60 meters of rock protection fencing before it fell down and made a half meter deep pit in the road, according to NRK news.

The road remains closed Tuesday, and chances are high that it won’t opens Wednesday either. Vegvesenets construction manager Bente Bergstø says it may take several days before the road opens to normal traffic.

– We work to get the road back in sevice as soon as possible, says Bergstø.

The past week has seen several landslides in western Norway. Saturday, E39 closed due to landslides between Vadheim and Sande at Sogn and Fjordane, and also Stavenes, Modalen and Åkrafjorden have been affected by landslides.
