The representatives of conscripts in the armed forces is concerned that the government envisages a sharp reduction in the center for competencies, training and education, Fokus.
-The proposal of the government will mean that the instruction and guidance currently offered by the Military will be effectively closed and removed from where the soldiers are. This will likely mean that the soldiers themselves will have to spend a lot of time and effort to find training and education that can fit into their busy military service, the national representative in The Military Spokesman System, Jens Kristian Øvstebø, says.
Øvstebø thinks it seems like the government does not intend to continue the career guidance the Military currently offers at Fokus, a scheme six out of ten soldiers use.
– A public report on career guidance in which the importance of the current offerings in defense emphasized has just been made available. This just emphasises that what the government proposes is not a good idea, he says.
The representatives believe that the government’s commitment to the Military for the next 20 years is gratifying, but says that they “take it for granted that this will also benefit those in basic military training.”
