The EU Commission asked the 500 million citizens of the European Union about daylight saving scheme. Now 4.6 million answers will be read.

Millions of EU citizens used the opportunity to express their preference for turning the
clock one hour forward in March, and one hour back in October to take advantage of the sunlight.

At the request of the European Parliament, the Commission sent out its questionnaire on the 4th of July. The deadline for expressing opinions expired on Thursday. The survey will be part of a broader assessment of the pros and cons of summer time the European Commission said.

The results of the survey will be announced “in a few weeks”. The European Parliament and the governments of the member states have the decisive word in the matter.
