Ferry controls have stopped 47 people

The temporary border controls at ferry quays has cost Norway 15 million NOK. So far the result is that 47 people have been stopped.

The controls provided are costing almost 320,000 kroner per person that has been refused entry since border controls were introduced on the 26th of November last year.

In addition, 27 people submitted applications for asylum on arrival at the Norwegian ferry docks, according to figures from the Ministry of Justice, said news agency NTB. Border controls apply to ferries arriving from Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

The current arrangement runs until the 12th of November. The government has not yet taken a position on continuing  border controls beyond this date.
