Brigade, folk dance, actors on stilts and accordion music met the Royal Couple when their royal yacht docked in Bergen as a part of its anniversary trip.
King Harald and Queen Sonja are on a ten-day anniversary trip along the coast to mark their 25 years as King and Queen of Norway. Before it docked in Bergen, the Royal Yacht Norway has stopped in Bodø and Trondheim on its journey southwards from Tromsø. Now the time has come to visit Bergen, and they are accompanied by the Crown Prince couple .
The Royal Yacht arrived in the capital of Western Norway on Saturday morning, and the royal family were met by the County Governor Lars Sponheim, mayor Marte Mjøs Persen and Police Comissioner Kaare Songstad, BergensAvisen writes.
The entire center of Bergen was closed to traffic during the visit, in order to minimize anything that interfered with the public rejoicing apart from the masses of people.
The royals and the public got the chance to enjoy performances reflecting Bergen history and traditions, such as Dræggens Brigade.
But a lot of attention was also given to the modern and future oriented Bergen.
When the royal couple have ended their visit to Bergen, the trip will continue to Stavanger.
