Fewer residents at Norwegian asylum reception centres

At the end of October, there were 3,930 people from 42 different countries in asylum reception centres in Norway,which is 1,100 fewer than at the turn of the year.

New this year is that most were Turkish citizens living in asylum reception centres, in total 671 people, showed figures from the Immigration Directorate (UDI). Then followed Eritreans with 594, Ethiopians with 406,Syrians with 398, and Afghans with 385 people. 30% of the inhabitants of asylum reception centres are under 18 years old.

Only 44% of the residents are waiting for an asylum application or have a complaint about rejection.Nearly one-third have received a final rejection of their asylum
application and have a call for repatriation. A third large group is waiting for settlement in a municipality.

UDI has reduced the application pile by 2,122 asylum applications this year. A total of 1,105 people have been granted the application for residence in Norway.

In total, 2,708 asylum seekers from 97 countries have come to Norway in the first ten months of the year,500 fewer than at the same time last year. Only five countries have a three-digit number of applicants this year.Turkey tops the list of 690 asylum applications,followed by Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea and Iran. 36% of asylum seekers this year are women.
