Five Norwegians are arrested after violence on the Greek island of Ios

Five Norwegian men, all 18 years old, were arrested on the Greek island of Ios after another 18-year-old Norwegian was hospitalized with two broken legs.

This the Greek police informs Aftenposten.

The victim at first claimed that he had broken both his legs in an accident, but after a new round of questioning he admitted that a group of Norwegians followed him and beat him up, police spokesperson Petros Vassilakis tells the newspaper.

– He then described the perpetrators to us. They were duly apprehended and arrested shortly after, says Vassilakis.

The Norwegians have been released from custody, but must appear before the court at a later time. It is not yet known when the hearing will take place.

The 18-years-old victim is sent to a hospital in the Greek capital, the police report to Aftenposten.
