A former general practitioner has been sentenced to five years in prison for assaulting patients in Trondheim.
– The defendant has deliberately and grossly exploited his position, said Judge Magnhild Brushing Røe when she read out the verdict in Sor-Trondelag District Court on Friday, according to the newspaper Adresseavisen.
The Trondheim doctor was in addition to the prison sentence ordered to pay a total of 680,000 kroner in damage compensation to the aggrieved women.
The man stood accused of having abused his position to obtain sexual relations with five patients when he worked as a doctor at a medical center in Trondheim during the period between 2004-2006. Prosecutors believe that all five women were subjected to “wholly or partly unfounded investigations.”
He was also convicted of having physically and mentally abusing his partner in the period between 2012-2014.
The doctor denied guilt and appealed on site.
