Foreign Ministry changing the travel advice for Turkey

Foreign Affairs advises against all travel or residence that is not strictly necessary to Ankara and Istanbul, except in transit areas of the airports.

After The coup Friday night the Foreign Ministry’s travel advice was for the whole of Turkey, but was Sunday therefore amended to apply only to capital Ankara and metropolis Istanbul. Foreign Affairs discourages anything other then transit at airports in the two cities.

In the travel advice by the Foreign Ministry that was updated Sunday it discouraged all trips or stays that are not strictly necessary in the border regions of Turkey closer than ten kilometers from the border to Syria.

Meanwhile encouraged visitors to exercise caution when traveling and staying in the remaining areas of the provinces bordering Syria, and other provinces in the southeast.
