Foreign women who are pregnant with twins, have the right to come to Norway to abort one of the fetuses.

This has been ascertained by the the Ministry of Health, after several women from Sweden and Denmark have contacted St. Olav’s Hospital, states NRK news.

– We have received inquiries with questions about fetal reduction,  Torbjørn Eggebø, chief physician at National treatment service for advanced fetal medicine, confirms.

Fetal reduction means that women who are pregnant with two healthy twins, can get an abortion for one of the fetuses.

The new guidelines from the Directorate of Health states that all women, regardless of whether they are Norwegian or foreigners residing in Norway have the same right to abortion.
