A man in his 30s has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison by Gulating crown court for raping his wife for several hours in December 2014.
The rapes occurred after the couple had been out at the pub and then to an afterparty with friends, newspaper Bergens Tidende writes.
The day before the man had tried to get his wife to move out and had partly dragged her by the hair to the exit door.
After they had been at the afterparty, the man went home first. When his wife came home, he wanted to have sex with her, but she did not want this.
He then hit her in the head several times while she fell to the ground and tried to protect themselves. According to the verdict the woman considered the situation to be life-threatening. The man raped the woman several times during the following five hours.
The condemned man alternated between saying he did not remember what happened, that they had not engaged in sexual activity and that the sex was consensual . The Court describes the explanation as being without much credibility.
In addition to the prison sentence, the man, who is from the Baltics, was ordered to pay 150,000 kroner in damages to the woman.
