Red Cross rescue workers pulled out four times during one night in connection with tourists in danger- emergency at Trolltunga in Hordaland.

– Now we are already up to almost the same number of rescues that we had a total of last year, said Bjorn Arild Fjeldsbø, area manager of the Red Cross for inner Hardanger, to NRK news.

So far this year there have been 19 rescues by Trolltunga and during the whole of last year there were 23 rescues. Saturday night there has been full four actions over the night.
It was partly a couple with a baby who needed some help on using the trail down from Trolltunga and a couple who had come away from the trail. Several were badly dressed and did not bring light.

Last year, September was the peak month for rescue operations and Fjeldsbø think you’ll see the same trend this year.

– We predict that it gets hectic ahead. It’s not going to come from the more actions we have and the crew will be ready. So I’m very impressed with my people who accomplish their tasks time after time, regardless of the weather, he says to the channel.

He believes we need more information and clearer warnings to hikers in the area.
