Four Syrian men (all from the same family) were sentenced to five and eight years in prison in Tonsberg District Court, for the aggravated assault and rape of a 19 year old Lebanese man.

The five men were all residing at the asylum seekers reception center at Brunstad in Stokke when the abuse happened on December 4th last year.

19-year-old man was bound, kicked, beaten and subjected to degrading sexual abuse for over four hours. Finally, he lay bleeding on the toilet floor with a broken nose, and multiple fractures of the eye socket and face, reported the newspaper, Aftenposten.

The 19-year-old man was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries. He has since been admitted to a psychiatric hospital as a result of the torture to which he was subjected.

57 minutes of the abuse was filmed, according to the Tonsberg District Court.

The motive for the violence remains unclear, but the court believed it revolved around blackmail, and a constructed story about a relationship with a woman in the lead man’s family.

A 46-year-old man was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment, in agreement with the prosecutor’s recommendation. The other three guilty men received five years each, which is one to two years less than the prosecutor’s recommendation. Financial compensation was set at 250,000.

After the verdict, three of those convicted will get a period of time to decide if they will appeal. The principal defendant, who received the longest sentence, has decided not to appeal. All four have been in custody since their arrest after the abuse.

Aftenposten reported that the 46-year-old mastermind will soon have to appear in court again on charges of aggravated assault against his wife, who is 24 years younger than himself.

According to the indictment, he cut her hair, stabbed her with a pair of scissors, and bit her arm. He is also accused of having turned on his ten month old son, with a fist to his head.

  1. Do we really want these types of people among us and our children?
