A nine-year-old Fredrikstad boy admitted earlier this week to Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet) after a drowning accident has died of his injuries.

Rune Albertsen, executive officer in the East Police District gave statement Wednesday, saying “The accident happened last Sunday and unfortunately, the boy died from his injuries Tuesday. The child had been underwater for a while before being rescued by neighbors and was unresponsive when found.”

The accident was reported to police late Sunday afternoon, June 10th.
