Frp proposes a vote of no confidence against city council

The Progress Party (Frp) proposes a vote of no confidence against the city council in Oslo. The reason is that the party thinks the care for the elderly is reduced significantly.

– We observe with increasing amazement that the city council’s policy regarding care for the elderly leads to a weakened offer for many who need a nursing home – and that private and ideally run nursing homes are closed in spite of major protests from users, relatives and employees, says Fraction leader for the Progress Party in the Oslo City Council, Aina Stenersen, in a press release.

It states that the proposal of a vote no confidence rejection comes from Stenersen and city council colleague and grand old man of the party, Carl I. Hagen.

–  The municipality regrets that the city council systematically discontinues privately-run nursing homes, which results in an increase in waiting lists and a poorer offer for the elderly in the city, the proposal states.

– KOSTRA figures show that the city council has reduced the number of nursing home seats in Oslo by 283 from 2015 to 2017. In 2015, Oslo reported 4605 nursing home seats, while for 2017 the number of places was reduced to 4322. That is a reduction of 283, or 6.1 per cent, and that is unacceptable, Stenersen adds.
