80,000 litres of fuel oil has leaked into in Alnaelva
A total of 80,000 litres of fuel oil has leaked into Alnaelva and further down towards the Oslo Fjord. The Fire Service has contained the leak.
The fuel leaked into Alnaelva and further into the Oslo Fjord. The fuel leak originated in Arnljot Gellinesvei 3.
– There are quite large amounts involved, and it is currently difficult to calculate the scope. There are a lot of diesel fumes in the area and efforts are being made to stop the spill, says Operations Manager in the Oslo Police District, Christian Krohn Engeseth, to NTB.
The fire department has placed oil lenses in the fjord to limit the spread of the spill.
Alnaelva drains into the Oslo Fjord at Lodalsøkket between Grønlikaia and Kongshavn, just a few hundred metres away from the bustling bathing life on Sørenga near the Opera.
The police reported the incident on Twitter at just after 4 pm.
