Gardermoen passport control is weak

Passengers with false papers have passed through passport control at Gardermoen airport.

– Unfortunately, this has in fact happened. For an example, we had people sent back from London who have gone through with false documents, and that have managed to pass our passport control, says Lars Hegstad, who is section chief of border control at Oslo airport, to NRK news.

Hegstad believes good border control is crime prevention.
So far this year 44 people with fake documents have been revealed and 160 people have been reported and stopped.
In addition, 505 people were rejected entry because they did not meet the requirements for entry or had a re-entry ban.

Lately there has been very long queues at passport control, and work pressures for those who work there have been so great that the safety is comprised. We have even threatened to close down passport control.

Thursday it became clear that more jobs will be transferred to the passport control at the airport from other parts of the police district. We have also introduced a system of roll call so that employees can break every hour during periods of heavy traffic.
