Extreme dryness and lack of food means that the government is now charting the possibility of importing feed from our neighboring countries.

“We are now reviewing more options to the feed situation and crops in Norway and our neighboring countries. Among other things, we will consider whether it is possible to import feed from our neighboring countries, and we must consider how quickly we can lower the duty fees on feed,” says Minister of Agriculture Jon Georg Dale (Frp) to NTB.

The high temperatures and low rainfall in recent weeks have caused many farmers in southern Norway to suffer from bad grass crops. This means that many now lack feed for their livestock.

“The situation is about to be extremely demanding for some farmers, and if it does not start to rain soon, many farmers may have to start reducing their animal numbers,” says Dale.
