A man has been  sentenced to three years in prison for repeated sexual abuse of two grandchildren in Sør-Trondelag District Court.

One of the girls was only four or five years old when the abuse started. The man  was convicted under the criminal law provisions on offenses against children under 10, 14 and 16 years, indicating that the abuse took place over a longer period of time.
The man pleaded not guilty, and accused his grandchildren in court of having financial motives for their accusations.
The court has found that the sexual abuse of the grandchildren mainly took place during visits and overnight visits with him and his wife. The children are both strongly influenced by the atrocities they have been subjected to, and receive treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The man has been sentenced to pay each of the grandchildren 150.000 kroner in damages.
