Air quality is a health hazard at several locations in Southern and Eastern Norway on Monday morning.
At four different locations in the capital the air shows signs of “high pollution” which, according to Air Quality, provides “significant health risks” for persons with heart- or respiratory complaints.
Also in Gjovik, Hamar, Kristiansand, Bærum, Fredrikstad, Lillehammer, Oslo and Stavanger warning lights are red.
– A high pollution level has been announced today, especially during rush hour. Especially along heavily trafficked roads, wrote Oslo Kommune on Twitter.
Several other places have also recorded moderate air pollution. In Bergen, Drammen, Lillesand, Sarpsborg, Grenland and Tromsø air quality is worse than normal.
The Labour Party is now repeating their demand that permanent low emission zones be introduced in Oslo, reports the newspaper VG.
– In spite of the Parliament on 3 May unanimously adopting our bill on the introduction of low emission zones in areas where limits are exceeded, Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen has constantly hampered regulation efforts, so that we are entering a new winter without the measures that we need, says a national politician Jahn Bohler.
Solvik-Olsen says in an SMS to the same newspaper that they’re working on it, which is out for consultation.
