In the last 24 hours, 270 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Norway. That means that Norway is approaching the infection level from March.

As of Friday, a total of 17,233 corona-infected people were registered in Norway.

That is an increase of 270 reported cases in the last 24 hours.

The increase means Norway is approaching the infection level from March when there were between 200 and 300 daily infection cases.

Assistant health director Espen Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that changes must be made in order to continue to establish control over the pandemic in Norway.

Additional efforts

“First and foremost, we must ensure that compliance with the current advice and measures is strengthened, there are too many examples of infection control failing in practice, and we must work more purposefully on environments and situations where we know the risk of infection is greatest,” Nakstad said.

“We are also, of course, continuously considering other measures that may be relevant for places where the infection is greatest.”

On Thursday, 44 corona patients were admitted to Norwegian hospitals – the highest number since May 22.
