It takes a lot for patients choose to complain about health care. Now the Consumer Council is making it easier to do.

– Patients need a simple way to report their issues. We want a common system that enables people to easily provide feedback on all of the healthcare system, said consumer director Randi Flesland.

In a new patient survey by the Consumer Council it appears that patients have a hard time giving feedback about health care.

There is little knowledge about how to complain and who to complain to.

– Patients do not always need the Norwegian patient compensation and lawyers to be involved.
Often it is enough to get the opportunity to speak out. It is also important that patients know when their input is taken into consideration. Interest in providing feedback is down and we not know if this will lead to something new in the healthcare system, says Flesland.

The first step is the creation of a think tank on the Consumer Council’s website. The main objective is to establish a standardized feedback system.
