After a Saturday where Pasvik in Finnmark was the warmest place in the country, heavy rainfall is heading towards southern Norway. A week of low pressure is waiting in most parts of the country.

“The rain will arrive in Sørlandet on Saturday night before it travels to eastern Norway tonight,” said Terje Alsvik Walløe at the Meteorological Institute to NTB news.

Walløe said that Saturday’s rain will be followed on Sunday by showers. In some places in eastern Norway there may be more than 30 millimeters of rain in a few hours.

“There will be large differences in local areas, and a likelihood of thunderstorms,” said the meteorologist.

Avoids the rain

In western Norway there will also be changeable weather, but less wet than in eastern Norway.Temperatures will be between 14 and 17 degrees.

Further north, mid-Norway will be clear of the rain that will hit southern and eastern
Norway over the weekend.Trøndelag and Møre and Romsdal can expect temperatures up to 18 degrees on Sunday and Monday.

“In Nordland, there will be sun and temperatures in excess of fifteen degrees before becoming cloudy on Sunday afternoon. With the clouds there will be rain in the evening south of Bodø,’’ said Walløe.

Warm weekend in Finnmark

In Troms a nice Sunday is expected with warm weather and sunshine.

However, Walløe pointed to the country’s northernmost county for the warmest weather this weekend, with temperatures well above 20 degrees in Pasvik and Berlevåg.

“It’s been a while since it was so hot here,” said Walløe.

Low pressure next week

Next week will not be as good. The Meteorological Institute said it will be a week in which a comprehensive low pressure zone will lead to a less summery weather on a national basis.

‘’Next week it will be wet in Western Norway. There will be several days of heavy rain on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday. Eastern Norway will get the least rainfall, while it will also be low-pressure weather in northern Norway,” said Walløe.
