Iraq soldiers awarded medal on their return to Norway

A total of 59 Norwegian soldiers who have served in Iraq, were awarded a medal when they came home to Norway on Friday.
The ceremony took place in Ridehuset at Akershus Fortress. The medals were presented by Lieutenant General Rune Jakobsen, head of the operational headquarters.
The Government was represented by Defence Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H), who gave a speech to the soldiers.  Chief of Defence Haakon Bruun-Hanssen and Army Inspector General Odin Johannessen were also present.
The main task of the Norwegian soldiers in Norwegian Task Unit II has been to train Iraqi security forces in basic soldier skills.
