Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants to talk about gender equality when parliament president Olemic Thommessen comes to visit this week.
Negative economic growth, declining population and low birth rates are some of the challenges for the world’s third largest economy.
Japan is lagging far behind other industrialized countries in terms of female participation in the workplace, and Prime Minister Abe has advocated increasing the percentage.
Now it seems that he will try to take inspiration from Norway. In any case, Abe has asked for gender equality to be one of the topics during the visit of the Parliamentary Presidency, which starts on Thursday this week.
For the Norwegian presidency  a free trade agreement between the two countries remain high on the agenda.
The parliamentary president will also get an audience with the emperor, and his program will also include visits to Toyota, the fish market in Tokyo and the Norwegian coffee shop exports Bird on the program.
