Progress Party leader Siv Jensen highlighted the fight against IS in her speech at the national convention of the Progress Party. – At its worst, Islamism is nothing but Nazism, she said.
It’s misanthropy, contempt towards people, towards progress and towards optimism, the FRP leader continued.
Defence policy is expected to become one of the major themes of the Progress Party congress at Gardermoen at the weekend and it was a key element in the party leader’s speech Saturday.
– To strengthen police and the military in the fight against terrorism is crucial. We need good and powerful intelligence work at home and abroad, and we need to know our enemies. Because we will defend our freedom. To do this, we have to ensure that we got a military which will we able to cooperate efficiently with our allies, both at home and abroad. We will not just stand by and watch as our allies defend Norway, Jensen said.
– The Progress party wants to strengthen the Norwegian Armed Forces, which have been scaled back in an inexcusable manner year after year under various governments before this one. This is not the time to take a defense policy “breather”, she continued.
Jensen did not state any specific goals in strenghtening the military, but according to klasskeampen 10 of the party’s 19 county leaders want to increase the defense budget to 2 percent of the gross domestic product. Today, the defence budget equals 1.5 percent of the GDP of Norway
