Hamar (NTB): The  Eidsivating Court has rejected the appeal from the captain of Air Baltic flight who were caught with a too large blood alcohol content in August last year. The sentence of ten months imprisonment stands.

The Latvian captain was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment in Upper Romerike District Court in September last year.

The captain believed the sentence was too harsh and appealed to the Court of Appeal.  Only the sentencing itself was up for appeal when the court considered the appeal in the Eidsivating Court in late January. The court  have now concluded that the prison sentence of the District Court was appropriate,

The captain and three other crew members were detained at the airport just before he were to pilot a flight to Crete with 109 passengers in August. Blood samples revealed that the captain had a blood alcohol  content of 0.54 just before departure.

If you can’t do the time don’t do the crime. Easier just to retire than wait to get sacked
