Rear Admiral Ketil Olsen will be appointed head of Norway’s military mission in NATO on Friday, according to the newspaper Dagbladet.
This means that Minister of Defence Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) will follow the recommendation from Chief of Defence Haakon Bruun-Hansen, according to the newspaper.
Three women and two men applied for the position.
Many had been hoping that the Government would take the opportunity to appoint one of the three women to the coveted position as Norway General at NATO Headquarters.
The three female applicants were Major General Kristin Lund, Rear Admiral Elisabeth Natvig and Rear Admiral Louise Dedichen.
The military mission in Brussels is led by Robert Mood, who has announced his retirement in January.
Only seven percent of the leaders of the defense are women.
