Worshipping in the Nidaros cathedral, on the anniversary day 25 years after the royal couple was blessed, is undoubtedly one of the highlights for the two.

King Harald and Queen Sonja are halfway through their anniversary trip along the coast. On Thursday the journey took them to celebrations in the third city along their route: Trondheim.
The King and Queen have said that their consecration 25 years ago was one the most important days in their lives, and the anniversary church service in the cathedral Thursday was clearly an emotional experience for them.
Tears
When 13-year-old Teodor Merkerås Rasmussen and Wenche Strømdahl performed a text for the royal couple, the handkerchiefs had to come out.
– It is a very serious legacy to be king of a country, where people are precious treasures. It is good that our king also inherited laughter, said Rasmussen, referring to the king’s father, King Olav, who was known for his infectious laugh.

Strømdahl spoke enthusiastically about all the people who were born over the last 25 years; that they all need to be seen, be given a hand and security.
– Perhaps this was always the King and Queen’s mission: To gather everyone in the hope of a lap with room for everyone.
The text was written for the occasion by father and son Eyvind and Sindre Skeie.
Celebrating
Aound 1,100 guests were invited to the celebratory service, including half the government, several members of parliament and other representatives from Norwegian officialdom. The service was led by Bishop Helga Haugland Byfuglien.
