It almost went wrong when King Harald was to step down from the podium after the opening of Parliament on Monday.
After the solemn ceremonial King’s speech was over, King Harald (79) walked down the wooden stairs in the parliamentary hall.
But on the way down the King mis-stepped and lost his balance for a moment.
The king quickly recovered however. Crown Prince Haakon who stood just behind, immediately came to the rescue and took his father’s arm to give him support.
– This could quickly have gone so wrong, said the Royal commentator Kjell Arne Totland to TV2 News.
– This is a king who make mistakes. In full uniform and with swords, you move slightly more heavily and stiffly than you usually do, said Totland, who added that the king has always been a bit heavy on his feet.
