So far this year, 53 wolverine have been registered in Norway. There are 13 more litters than last year.

“This means that the wolverine stock this year appears to be above the national target of 39 annual puppies in Norway,” said Jonas Kindberg, head of Rovdata.

Field crews from the Norwegian Nature Conservation Authority (SNO) have demonstrated the wolverine litters. The figures are preliminary, and Rovdata is to make its final report on October 1.

Last year’s 40 registered wolverine litters made a population of about 320 adult animals. So far this year, three out of the 53 wolverine’s have been sighted this year, according to Rovbasen.
