A 36 year old former manager of a gift card company was in Moss District Court and sentenced to one year and ten months in prison for embezzling 5.5 million NOK.

Multiple recipients discovered that there was no cover on the gift cards they had received. In 2013 the company went bankrupt, and in December last year the 36-year-old wasaccused of embezzlement, reported NRK news.

There were three weeks to reconsider the matter in court, but before the trial began, the man chose to acknowledge guilt and acknowledge embezzlement against 26 different clients. Thus the matter was a Confession, and the court could decide it all in one day last week.

The judgment concluded that the 36-year-old misappropriated a total of 5.46 million kroner. Prosecutors asked for a conditional prison sentence of two years and four months in prison.

The courts decision was a somewhat lower sentance, but made unconditional. In addition they confiscated 2 million kroner. Neither the 36-year-old nor his attorney wanted to comment on the verdict to NRK.
