Less traffic in Bergen after new congestion tolls

Traffic in Bergen was reduced after the toll rate was put up during rush hour, according to Statens Vegvesen.

In the four months that have passed since the toll increase there has been 16 percent less traffic during rush hour compared to the same months last year, wrote newspaper Bergens Tidende.

For a 24 hour period there is 6 percent less traffic compared to the same month last year, according to the survey from the Public Roads Administration

It was on February 1st that the toll rate had gone up from 25 to 45 in the timeslots between 6:30am to 9:00am and from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. For other times the toll was lowered to 19 kroner, with the exception of weekends.
