Young Right, Young Left and FpU want to abolish the sex trade ban, scrap the pimping paragraph and allow brothels.

The leaders of the youth parties demands that their parent parties, Right, Left and the Progress party follow up their own party programs and remove the law against the purchase of sex before parliamentary elections next year,  Aftenposten writes. The last three years have parties that are against this law have had the majority in Parliament, but the law still remains.

– The current Norwegian law on this issue puts sex workers in danger. It is time that the liberal parties use the majority we have and abolishes the law against the purchase of sex  FpU leader Bjørn Kristian Svendsrud says and is joined by Kristian Tonning Riise, who is the leader of the Young Right.
– Police have gone from being someone who could make sex workers safe to someone they must beware of.

Youth party leaders do not want to have state brothels, but they want to remove the pimping paragraph and rules that prevent brothels. Their stated reason for this is also the the prostitute’s own safety.

Tord Hustveit of Young Left said he is under the impression that many people. even among the members of his own party think this is a difficult issue, but nevertheless thinks that the parties should be pushing for the removal of the ban. He believes social problems should be met with social measures, not punishment and police.
