Working closely with the refugees leads to good results for their integration, according to the Minister of Immigration and Integration Sylvi Listhaug (FRP).
Listhaug got an encouraging message when she went to Ålesund on integration inspection on Friday. Among other things, she got to meet refugees who were standing in the Art Nouveau town who were standing on their own two feet financially.
– They say that your own efforts makes a big difference, Listhaug said. She highlights that the integration process in Ålesund.
– The municipality is working on a very good way. The make demands of those who participate and and are working closely with and following up everyone of them. Working closely with every immigrant and following them up, yields results. It is difficult, but essential, says Listhaug.
The minister came to Aalesund almost directly from Brussels, where she attended Thursday the meeting for EU’s ministers of justice and home affairs on Thursday, a meeting that was marked by a fierce refugee dispute between Greece and Austria.
The influx of refugees to Europe does not seem to be slowing down, and a number of EU countries, including Germany, have begun to advocate for an agreement with Turkey about a quota system where a significant number of refugees are brought to Europe to curb the uncontrolled influx.
