Neither the Norwegian nor the British defense minister believes there will be negative consequences of NATO cooperation with Donald Trump as president of the United States.
– We look forward to work with Trump. All American presidents have supported the alliance since it was established and we expect that this will continue with Trump as well, said the British defense secretary Michael Fallon during a meeting with the Norwegian press in Bodø on Thursday, according to NRK news.
Fallon believes we must distinguish between campaign discussions and presidential policy and was supported by the Norwegian Minister of Defense Ine Eriksen Søreide.
– We must consider Trump on the policy he defines with his administration. We have always had a close and good cooperation with the United States.
It is assumed to be continued the same way, said Søreide.
