One out of three do not know the emergency number for the fire department, according to new study.

In the survey done for If insurance company, Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) and the Norwegian Fire Protection Association also shows that nine out of ten do not have an agreed meeting point in case of fire, and one in four are uncertain whether extinguishing apparatus works.

 – In early time of the firing, you and your family really left to yourself in the first vital seconds and minutes.

Then there is no time to ponder where it is safe to escape, google for whom to call, or unpack the extinguishers packaging. It is only through having a fire drill at home this can be trained on, said Executive Vice President Morten Thorsrud in If.

The study was done on the occasion of this year’s fire prevention week. Saturday holds 350 fire stations throughout the country “open day” to inform about fire safety at home.

For the record: The emergency number for the fire brigade is 110.
