Several former parliament politicians struggle to get jobs. This year, Parliament gives severance pay to 14 ex-representatives, writes Our Country.

This applies to representatives who, in the last election year, were either not reelected or resigned and who have not yet managed to obtain another job.

Of the 14 remaining on Parliament’s payroll list, are six from the Progress Party, five from the Labor Party, two from the Right and one from the Christian People’s Party.

Representatives are usually granted three months’ salary in the year they leave the Parliament. Those who have not gotten a job can get another year’s salary. The severance pay is NOK 631,000, which amounts to 66 percent of the total salary of NOK 956,000.

Ib Thomsen from the Progress Party is one of the representatives who has not got a job.

“As a politician for 30 years and twelve of those years in Parliament, I believed I would find a new job after the election, but I have not gotten anything,” says Thomsen to Our Country.
