The government proposes to allocate another NOK 12.5 million for extinguishing forest fires in 2018. Fire hazard is still high in several places.

“It is important for the government to facilitate the continued good forest fire helicopter preparedness. Therefore, we propose an additional NOK 12.5 million for the extinguishing of forest fires and higher preparedness in 2018,’’ said a press release from Justice, Preparedness and Immigration Minister, Tor Mikkel Wara of
Fremskrittsparti (Frp).

The reason for the grant is that there has been increased preparedness for forest fire hazards and the need for assistance from forest fire helicopters in the extinguishing of forest fires in May and June.
