The autumn’s Nato exercise, Trident Juncture, can affect both DAB and mobile signals around the country, according to NRK.

The exercise will consist of about 40,000 soldiers from a total of 31 countries.

The countries participating in the exercise have ordered approximately 1,300 SIM cards through the Armed Forces, and Telenor does not rule out that the exercise will affect the DAB and mobile signals.

– “There may be network outages, and there may be events that will temporarily shut down the cellular network. But we have raised the readiness, so I think this will mostly go well,” says chief executive Bjørn Amundsen in Telenor to NRK.

Telenor draws particular attention to the areas around Rygge Air Station in Østfold and around the military facility at Sessvollmoen outside Oslo as places that are likely to be affected by the exercise.

Telia has prepared itself by setting up additional base stations to take away the increased mobile network activity. There has been great excitement about how both traffic and everyday life for the population will be affected by the NATO exercise.
