On Saturday NASA sent out a new satellite to provide a significant improvement in weather forecasts.
The satellite, called GOES-R, is referred to as America’s most advanced “eye in the sky.”
It will deliver images of weather systems with higher resolution than previously and update images at intervals of between 30 seconds and five minutes.
– We are going to make a huge leap from where we are today, said meteorologist Todd McNamara comparing the change of going from black and white television to color television.
It is hoped that the new satellite will make it easier to predict including hurricanes and severe storms, so warnings can be sent out to people in good time before the storm hits.
