No emergency passports at Oslo Airport at summer weekends

The police will not provide emergency passports to travelers at Oslo Airport at the weekends this summer. The reason is that the staff at the police watch will be moved to the passport control.

The closure of the emergency passport arrangements at the weekends will apply from June 10 to August 28, the police said in a statement. From Friday 15 o’clock to Monday 8am travelers therefore have to contact their local police before they arrive at the airport.
The reason for this provision is that there is a huge growth in journeys  to and from countries outside the Schengen area.
– This means that employees who  would normally work at the police watch, now have to work at the passport control. In addition to this, we have to prioritize border control and following up cases that we uncover there, head of Gardermoen police station, Paal Sørhage, says.
Sørhage encourages travelers to check that their passports are valid in good time before the summer holidays.
