Police, military and NSM are concentrating their resources in the fight against online crime and attacks.

– This is a big and important step for improving social security, says Defense Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide and Justice Minister Anders Anundsen to news agency NTB.

Recently, cyber units in the Police Security Service (PST), Defense Intelligence Service and National Security Authority (NSM) collocated.

It will provide a more efficient flow and sharing of information and thus also a better handling of cyber-attacks.

Increasing challenges

– We are experiencing increasing challenges in cyber area and we see that threat can often be difficult to obtain. We may be under attack for a long time without knowing it.

It is one of the greatest hazards in this field.

Therefore, it is important that information shared between key players, says Eriksen Søreide.

– A joint cyber coordination center builds on the experience with Joint counterterrorist center (FKTS) where cooperation between the Intelligence Service and the PST has been very close and good. In addition, we draw naturally into NSM, says Anundsen.

The three services retain their separate legal basis and challenges that may arise will be handled along the way.
