Norway among the world’s best countries for girls

A report from Save the Children reveals the best and worst countries to live in for girls. Niger is the worst country of the ranking, while Norway is the third best.

Out of 144 countries in a ranking of the best and worst countries in the world for girls, Niger is the worst. Norway is in third place, only beaten by Sweden in first place and Finland in the second place.

The report measures indicators such as child marriage, adolescent pregnancy, maternal mortality rates, political participation and education. All of the ten countries at the bottom of the list are in sub-Saharan Africa.

Every year, 15 million girls are married off before the age of 18. In countries like Ecuador, Nicaragua, Pakistan and Zimbabwe  two  out of three girls said that they are not allowed to make important decisions concerning their own lives.
