The Ministry of Justice has denied the claim that Norway will accept 218 Syrian refugees from Turkey every four months from here on out.

“This is untrue. It is clear that Norway has pledged to resettle 600 Syrian refugees from Turkey this year,” says secretary of state Marit Berger Røseland (H) to NTB.

The German news agency DPA was the one that reported Norway’s alleged plan to accept 218 Syrian refugees every four months from here on out as a part of an agreement Turkey has with the EU.

The arrangement details that one Syrian refugee will be retrieved from Turkey for every one sent back from Greece to Turkey. According to the DPA, the EU estimates that 4,488 Syrians will be retrieved by August.
