Norway will contribute NOK 10 million over three years to NATO’s efforts to promote stability in Alliance territory in the south and east.

The additional aid was announced by Prime Minister Erna Solberg during the NATO summit in the Polish capital Warsaw.

The money will go to NATO’s support fund for capacity building in the defense sector and for NATO’s support fund for women’s participation in the Jordanian defense. In addition, Norway will lead a support fund for capacity building in Georgia.

NATO can not meet the security challenges in the east and south solely by  strengthening its own defense capability,  Foreign Minister Børge Brende says.
– We also need to work on prevention and help our partner countries to be able to take more responsibility for their own security, he said.
