Norway and the UK have come to an agreement on the rights of Norwegians and Britons, states Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide.

“We are now in accord to an agreement with the UK on how to move forward with the rights of the 20,000 Norwegians living in the UK, and the 15,000 Britons living here in our country,” said Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) on Thursday during her speech at the semi-annual report to Parliament on important EU and EEA issues.

According to her, the agreement guarantees the same rights and obligations that are an agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom.

It will formally be put into play once the divorce agreement between the UK and the EU has been formally concluded.

The United Kingdom and Norway agree that Norwegian and British citizens will also be secured if Britain and the EU fail to agree on an agreement.
