Public Roads recommends that the government introduce different rates depending on the type of vehicle in the toll booths in Norway.
Roads believes that differentiation of tolls can be realized already during the next year, and that this will lead to sharp cuts in emissions of NOx, according to the newspaper Dagsavisen.
In the proposal submitted to the Ministry of Transport, they proposed that  distinctions are made between zero-emission vehicles, plug-in hybrid cars, diesel cars and other cars when determining toll charges for cars . In addition they outline three different categories for heavy transport.
Public Roads has estimated that it will take 18 months to introduce a system of differentiation of tariffs. The proposals will now be debated further in the Ministry.
