Norwegian, short maturation cheese voted the world’s best

The Norwegian cheese, Fanaost, did not need to travel far to be named the world’s best during the World Cheese Awards in Bergen on Friday night.

A total of 3,472 cheeses from all over the world participated in the competition to become the world’s best. And the Norwegian cheese Fanaost (Fana Cheese), from the producer Ostegården in Bergen, did not have to travel far to where this year’s competition was held, which would win, writes NRK.

– “It’s completely crazy! I did not expect this,” says farmer and general manager Jørn Hafslund.

Fanaost, according to the manufacturer, is a mild, round and semi-solid cheese that hints as Gouda, made with pasteurized cow’s milk.
